Isaac POLK was in Feliciana (present W. Feliciana) Parish ca 1807 with his wife the former Sarah WHITE. Who were Sarah's parents? Some say her father was George WHITE? Was he also in Feliciana Parish? Isaac later removed to Lawrence Co., MS. Any help with identifying the parentage, place of birth of Sarah WHITE POLK will be appreciated. Thank you. Margaret Miller

Margaret,

I am doing research in the Felicianas. My family are the QUIETTs, but on several census's the surname is listed as WHITE.

Because my mother and father were not married, I did not know the family while growing up. So I do not know many of my ancestors. There are however a great many of us.

This evening I will speak to a cousin in Texas who knows a lot more than I do, and i'll ask if the name Sarah rings a bell.

We may be connected however, I have been working on my tree for 12 years, and the QUIETTs' name came up during my research of court records I obtained, my grandfather Elliott JACKSON is the son of Jim JACKSON as I told you all of Jim's children were born in West Feliciana, I am trying to find Jim's mother and father now if I succeed I am going to try to have a big family reunion in the year 2000, if you like I will be happy to exchange info with you. Give me an E-mail

We may have a connection here. I also have a Cousin in Houston and in Fort Worth (there are more in FW). My father was Louis QUIETT (he changed it to (QUIRETT), son of Owen and Sallie Thompson QUIETT. It is my understanding that Owen's father may have been John. John is listed on the 1850 and 1870 Census as John WHITE. I also have a sister and a brother. We were all born outside of his marriage. I do the geneology because I have always known that I was different from my mother's family. Through meeting family and learning about my the heritage I have come to learn that I am very much like the QUIETTS, and I look just like them.

I do have a lot of information, so if you think there is a connection let me know
