I'm 34 married male who lives in Delray Beach Fl. My parents live in Grand Prairie (Dallas/Ft Worth)Tx. and my Grandfather lived in Norman Oklahoma until just last year when he passed away. My Father has three brothers, one in Tx, Ar and the other still in OK. I have Only met two other Cablers in my life and always find it interesting. I have recently become very interested in the WEB and have foud it a way to put the world at my fingertips. For example, I found this link through a family tree wesite. I would like to chat with anyone interested in sharing information or just curious about other Cablers in the world!

I was told by my grandparents that my great-great grandfather immigrated to the United States from Germany. Upon arrival to the U.S. his name was changed from "Kabler" to "Cabler" and that I am related to most people with the last name "Cabler". I have never met another Cabler (except for my known relatives). I was also surprised after surfing the net to see so many Cablers. Most of my family resided in Alabama.

I haven't heard much about my family name except that my dad's father possibly came from Oklahoma or Texas. I was born and raised in southern oregon. There is a huge clan of Cablers in and around the Medford, Oregon area where my grandfather settled and had his kids.

I spoke with my father regarding our original ancestor. He said his name was Fredrick P. Kabler (changed to Cabler when he immigrated) around 1720. He settled in Georgia and was a plantation owner.

My great-great grandfather, John Boyd Cabler, came to this country when he was only a small boy. He had two sons, one came here to Alabama and settled and the other went to Texas. I will post more details later, if anyone has any information about the Cabler family histories, please let me know .

I was told by my grandfather that his grandfather came over with his father from Ireland and had a brother that eventually moved to Texas. I have recently been informed by my brother that he was contacted by a Cabler person in Texas that claims she has evidence that we originated in Germany. So I am in process of researching that now. Will be glad to share any information that I acquire as it becomes available.
