I am looking for possible variations of Daler, and this seems the most logical. My great grandfather was a Daler form the Dayton,OH area, and I am unable to find anymore about him. Can anyone help me? Thank you in advance.

My Great Great Grandmother was Catharine Daler from Dayton, Ohio born July 13 1834, Alsace/Lorraine. Married to Peter Diester also spelled Dister. She died in Dayton Nov 23 1910. Do you know if there is a connection with your Daler ancestor?

Hello Marty. Well, I know little about my great grandfather,John Daler, but I DO know he came from Dayton...so most likely there is. I do know he had a brother,Walter, and I think a sister named Irene..does any of this ring a bell?

HI, I'm working with Marty as she is my husband's cousin and today I went to Calvary Cemetery to check out the Daler's there. George Daler 10/20/1807 - 5/30/1845 from Gerstdorf Germany and Barbara Daler 10/16/1909 - 12/01/1872 from Germany and Dorthea Daler 11 yrs old but no dates on their records are buried in Section 14 Lot # 70. It is a tall monument. We are looking for their connection to the Dister's as Catherine Dister's maiden name was Daler and their monument is almost identical and up on top of the hill across the way in Section 15 lot #113. Barbara and Dorthea were originally buried at the old St Henry's Cemetery and moved to Calvary. If you make any connections to these names please let us know. Jo

Sorry, guess I thought you were familiar with the Dayton Oh area. It is the main Catholic Cemetery in Dayton. Calvary Cemetery Calvary and Dixie Aves Dayton OH 45409 It is just past the Carillon Park off of South Dixie Drive and if you are familiar with Dayton at all it is just south of NCR. I haven't found any internet listings of the deceased or even a listing in the libraries here but they are very helpful if you call them. It is usually a $1.00 a page plus postage.

My cousin has found a site for civil war soldiers. While on the site found a Joseph Daler, Union Infantry, 58 Ohio Infantry. This is the same regiment my g.g.grandfather was in from Dayton, Ohio. Maybe your G.Grandfather was a descendent. More info is Dalers came to America with several siblings in 1846 and shortly therafter to Dayton.

From where did these Dalers come from? I have absolutely no more information then that he came from Dayton,Ohio, and had a brother Walter and a sister Irene. I have searched high and low, and find very little on the Daler/Dahler name..some claim its german, others claim its french. Thanks.

Our Daler's came from Hersdorf, then in Alsace which was in France at that time. So you are correct sometimes it was French, sometimes German. That area flipped back and forth. Hersdorf today in Germany. Some of our info says France and other German. I don't have the names of all the siblings but for 3 sisters but understand there were several. So far no Walter or Irene. Keeping you in mind in search. Don't give up.
