Thank you for your reply. Which brother took your father in. And what happen to the other boys? Your sister can contact me through email if she would like. That would make my brother in law your cousin.

John J. Hogan (born 3/20 or 30/1887 and died 7/16/1984) and Nellie Edna Dawsey (born 2/22/1885 and died 11/7/1923) had: John Jr, Rufus Frank, Eugene George, Charles Ralph, and Claude Louis. John Jr. was married 2 times - no children. Frank was married 2 times - 1 child. Shelia. Is George your brother in laws father? I don't know anything about that side. Ralph was married 1 time. Killed in crash - no children. Louis married 1 time - 5 children, lots of grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. That's us. Nellie Edna was born 2/22/1885 and died 11/7/1923. They are buried at Turtleskin cemetary in Hancock County, MS. I have alot of the information about the Dawseys but nothing about the Hogans. I will email you more if you pass your email address. I am also creating a GEM file with the FamilySearch software that I will pass to you as soon as it is finished. Nellie Edna had 12 brothers and sisters. I have all that information.

Hello,
I am your cousin. My father is Euguene George. Hogan. Nellie Dawsey and John Hogan were his parents. I notice that most of you replying to this thread live in the area you are researching. It would be a simple matter to do some routine research before putting complete inflammatory, prejudical, nonsense about this family on a message board. A trip to a library and doing some research in the newspaper archives or reading State v Hogan 102 So. 403 which is the Supreme Court Opinion about John Hogan would be illuminating. Nellie was not raped by black men who John Hogan then killed. Nellie died shorty after childbirth. Her last child was Claude Louis Hogan who was adopted by the Dawsey family. All of the other children, except the oldest John, went into the orphanage. The children went into the orphanage because their father, John Hogan could not care for them. He had an affair with a married woman - Mrs. Hollie Dykes. In a fight with her husband, John killed him. All of the parties were white. John and Mrs. Dykes both received life sentences in Louisana. Grandfather, John Hogan, was released from Angola in 1933. He died 5/30/1958 and is also buried athe Turtleskin Cemetary in Hancock County. Several papers you could use in your research are The Era-Leader published in Franklintown, LA. and the Bogolusa News published in Bogalusa, LA.
I can see by these messages that most of you are cousins. Why don't you pick up the phone and talk to each other!
