Okay, this is all I know....

My mother's maiden name:
Maria Cristina Steffania Olga FAILLA di Rocca Imperiale. The family is long ago from Calabria.

A portion of my grandfather's name:
Angelo Maria Giuseppe Cristiano Failla (and on with the titles) Does anyone know about this Failla line?

Thank you

Originally my family was from Sicily. One of my couple greats back grandfather (I think 2, maybe three) actually was an assistant in some way or another to the King of the Kingdom of the Two Sicilys. If this helps, great. If it doesn't, sorry.

Thank you

My great grandfather was Giuseppe Failla born in Sicily. He was married to Crocifisa Taormina. They came to the states around the early 1900's. They had seven boys. The oldest was Giovanni Failla, my grandfather, Dominick Failla, both born in Sicily. Sam, Frank, Anthony, Joseph, Michael Faillo all born in Melrose Park, Cook County, IL. Giuseppe's Father's name was Giovanni Failla married to Maruzza Giallombardo. If you can tie in to any of this information, I may have more for you.

Thanks,

Jacqueline Cooper

Francesca Ball..if it is true that you come from the Failla line that was an assistant to the king of sicily ..than this may be of some interest to you.....I too come from this line of Faillas ..The family came to sicily with baron ventimiglia as his millitary capt. around the mid 1200s...the org name was faia ..and they came from southern France ..as the years past the family settled in Castelbuono Sicily ..and change name to Failla...Please note not all faillas come from this line ..most org. in naples..

Francesco Failla's message talked about the history of various Failla lines. I am descended from Failla's from Palermo Provence, Sicily but know nothing beyond the mid-late 1800s. Would really like to learn about the history of the name. Can you send me references to check, please? Thanks.

Pat it is always a pleasure to talk with someone who is interested in the failla name
I will try to help you with your search. for starters the Failla name is common in the palermo county area but most of the faillas roots in this area come from the same line. I say most since the word failla originaly comes from the naples area of Italy.. the meaning is a kind of popular beach tree in that area. If you would like to email me direct my email is Nathanfailla@aol.com I would like to here from you.

I had just sent you an e-mail asking if we were from the same family line. This message I'm replying to confirms it. Sam was my great-grandfather. My father is Dennis who is the son of Joe Faillo-Sam's only son. Any information you can give me on our family history would be great. My grandfather told me that our ancestors came from Loscari (sp?) Sicily. Please forward any information you have. Thanks.
