I am seeking any information you may have regarding Isabella and James that I don't have, such as Isabella's birth death date, children, etc. I'm not even sure what James' middle name was. I do know he was born 1737 died in 1820. That's about it. His father was directly from Glasgow, but married in Pennsylvania then moved to North Carolina. Any info would be helpful. Isabella is my Great x 6 Grandmother but I know nothing about her really. The McCreary's are extensively researching our roots. I heard that the Giffen's are also. I'd like to correspond with anyone whose interested. Thank you.

Glad to see that you are searching for Giffen info

I've checked my Giffen database (more than 5,000 people) and find no Isabella Giffen, but lots of James Giffen's. Could you tell me more? Our ancestory is connected with Robert and Mary Bane Giffen, Robert was born in 1743, migrated to America in 1777, and is buried near Wheeling, WV.

My father Arthur and his brothers and sister
were from Pennsylvania. Not sure where they
came from, but could be Glasgow. The family was split up, so am having a hard time trying to find out info. Their mother was a Cope, {originally spelled Coope} so I,m told.

My father's name was Arthur Frederick Giffen;
he had a sister named Margaret, and brothers;
James, Stuart, and Harry. They were split up as kids, as their father and mother separated, then the mother died, and Margaret was unable to care for them. Harry the youngest one was adopted by a family named Winton who lived in Odessa, N.Y. That is where he and his wife still live.

Don't know much about the family as my father and mother separated when I was about 2 yrs old and I hadn't seen my father since.
He has since passed and is buried in a Veterans Cemetary in Johnsville, Tenn.

Hope this will give you more fodder for your tree. Hoping to hear from you again.

Hi Pat
This is your cousin John Giffen. I have our family history back to the late 1700's Ill be glad to send it to you. I am trying to post our geneology to ancestry.com I know that our family came from Ayrshire Scotland and settled in Chillisquakee Township, Cumberland County Pennsylvania. They lived there for several generations and the last family member to own the Giffen farm was the Husband of a sister to our Grandfather, John Montgomery Giffen. I cant remember the name but I have it somewhere. Our Great grandfather was James Olchetree Giffen and his fathers name was John Giffen, Johns Father was also called James Olchetree and lived in PA in the late 1700's. Hes father I believe was also John. Johns father may have been Andrew Giffen who immigrated to Pa from Scotland around 1760. I cant find the exact connection to scotland yet.
