I am doing research (family tree) on the Mageno family. I am the child of Elizabeth Mageno (Romero), and the grandson of Sotero Mageno. My records show Sotero as the son of Bartolo and the nephew of Arcadio. As a child I remember visiting Mageno relatives in Paramount, CA. I can e-mail the information that I have on the family tree should you be willing to help me fill in the blanks.
My e-mail address is rromero5@tampabay.rr.com

My name is Nicole Leon, I am Nellie Mageno's granddaughter. I was raised by Tia Alex (Alexandria Mageno) and Tio Kayo (Arcadio Mageno), both children to Tomasita and Arcadio Mageno of Paramount/Clearwater Ca. Tia gave me many documents tracing our family history from Mexico. Many of them are letters, immigration documents dated 1903 to present. I am currently in the process of connecting my family's past. Please feel free to contact me.

Hi NIcole,
I am Uncle Richard "Blackie" and Aunt Trina's daughter. My dad was your grandma Nellie's nephew. My dad is gone now, he has been gone for 7 years. There are eight children in our family. We are all grown and have children, some of us have grandchildren. all have so many memories. I miss Aunt Alex so very much. I have her in my thoughts often. I also have lots of childhood memories of Tio Kayo he used pile us kids in his old car and take us to the beach in the summer time. So many fun times. I am so happy to hear that you are tracing the family history. Please keep us posted with your progress. The last time I had a visit with Tia Alex I remember she went over old family photos with me and pointed out everyone to me. It is one of my most memorable times. I know how she felt about you. She talked about you all the time. Grandma Tomasita raised my dad and so tia Alex did show me pictures of my dad as a young boy. Please let me know if you have access to any of them I would love to have copies!

My name is Lucas Mageno. I believe Sotero Mageno was my great grandfather through a name change issued from my blood grandfather Joe Mageno. From what I can tell his real name was Joe Ayalla but Sotero took him in but never officially adopted my grandfarther. However at the age of twenty one my grandfather took Sotero's name legally in Los Angeles California. I am proud of the last name I carry. My Dad Frank Mageno had seven children five boys and two girls. Of his grandchildren we have 23 kids. Nineteen of those are boys and we all carry the Mageno name. If interested google me Lucas Mageno there are some great articles written about me and my family. I would like to know as many Mageno's as possible and would openly accept any correspondance. Thanks

Can you give me more information on your family tree. The only Bartolo I have was married to Angela. They had 3 sons, Sotero (my grandfather), Augustin, and Samuel. It is possible I could be missing a big piece of the tree. If you could give me your parent's, grandparents and greatgrandparents name on the Mageno side, it would help me fill in the part of the family tree I am missing. Once I fill this piece in, I will send you a copy of the tree by PDF file

Ralph, my name is Evelyn Mageno. I am your uncle Daniels daughter. I would very much like to correspond with you concerning our geneology. I remember visiting you home on Orr and Day Rd. as a child (probably about 1950 or '51). I don't know if you have my information or not but i will gladly give it to you. As you probably already know I wasn't raised with the Mageno family but would very much like to know of my family. I have a great need to know of them for when I think of them I feel like I have an empty spot in my heart. I have visited with your mom and aunt Sara a couple of times but I haven't gotten very much information from them. Anxiously awaiting your response. Evelyn

To Patty and the Rest of the Family...
I am sorry I have been so lax as to put into writing the history of our family, as I know all of us are anxious to see how we all come together. The truth is, I have tried countless times to look through the pictures, read through the letters and journal all my experiences with My Tias and Tio Kayo, but pain makes it hard for me to revisit the past. There are million stories to the names, and I wish I could share with you as eloquently as Patty did, the life and love that these people brought to my life. I realize that I may be one of the few that was blessed with 18 years with Tio Kayo, 24 with Tia Lilly and 26 with Tia Alex. I lived day in and day out with them and heard so much about their childhoods, war time and family, and I just wish I could could bring it all together for you guys, but its too hard right now. I will be attenduing the family reunion at Progress Park at the end of this month- next weekend I think and will have some items with me.

Oh, and Patty, I know exactly who Uncle Blackie and Aunt Trina are. They lived right around the corner from Tia Alex and Tio Kayo. Blackie and Gilbert were always over the house. Its funny how you remember riding in the back of Tio Kayo's truck, because my mom, Lena always talks about that too.
