For those you, who not aware, I submit the following. In a book published in Chicago dated 1927 by Myron Dings, "The Dings Family in America". There is a chapter devoted to the Sagendorf family in Schoharie, NY. My great Aunt Frances Sagendorf, daughter of George is mentioned here. This is the family group of Catherine Dings and George Sagendorf. Another Publication, "Palatine's to America" by Henry "Hank" Z. Jones (Actor/Writer).is also a great help in research of this family. The original farm is still in the Sagendorf family's hand. This family is also the owner's of the World Famous "Howes Cavern" My cousin, John Sagendorf, Executive Director of Howes Caves, was appointed to the New York Tourist Commission by Gov. George Pataki

I am researching the Sagendorf's of Schoharie County and the southwestern tip of Albany County - in search of relatives to my gr-grandmother Ethel Elizabeth Sagendorf. Any help in completing this family search would be appreciated. How and where would these books you mentioned be obtained?

You wouldn't have any information on an Elmira Sagendorf would you? She would be my great great grandmother. I believe she may have been born in Schoharie. Not sure of the year. Family records have her listed as born April 4,1878. But on the 1920 census she could have been born in 1889. She gives different ages on every census that I have her on. She was married to Franklin Pierce born in Schoharie County.
I know nothing about this woman. My grandmother had no clue when she died or who her parents were. So I was just wondering if you may know anything about her.
Thanks
Kristy

Hi, Frances Sagendorf, Daughter of George Harmon Sagendorf is my Grandmother. Her brother was Clarence and a sister Mary who was a school teacher. Is the George that you write about married to a Hattie Rickard?

My George Sagendorf is the Grandson of George Sagendorf and Catherine Dings, and is the son of Benjamine Sagendorf and Malinda Hill. Frances married Frank Tripp, My Grandfather. I am putting together papers on the Dings and Sagendorf families to put Adam Dings in the D.A.R. (Daughters of the American Revolution), Any info is greatly appreciated.

Hi,
My Sagendorf roots are in the West Sand Lake/Schodack area. My mother's maiden name is Sagendorf. I have traced the family as far back as Peter A. Sagendorf(ph)1795 -1841, married to Rachael (I have no maiden name). This is where I am stuck. All of my Sagendorf male lineage are buried at Elmwood, West Sand Lake, except for Willie P, my great grandfather.

I hope someone can shed some new light.
Kathie
