Geary Van Artsdalen [sp?] portrait, b/early 1900's, california?

I have an 8x10 portrait of a Geary Van Artsdalen that I would be willing to share with descendants or VanArtsdalen researchers. I am not a descendant but would like to have his info for my files. Geary appears to have been married to my grandmother at one time and I would like to share her old photos.

Between the 1930 and 1940's timeframe, he was said to be married to Malinda b/1910 Texas. Malinda sent postcards to her sons signed Mrs. Geary Van Artsdalen but I can't read the dates.

I have a couple pictures of Mr. Van Artsdalen, the portrait and a picture of him in Mexico on a dock looking at pottery, Malinda appears in that picture. I believe he was in a business that caused him to travel, some kind of import maybe, but that's just speculation, maybe he worked in the shipping business.

I'm sure he lived in California at one time and his mother may have lived with him. I have a feeling Mother and Malinda did not get along.

If anyone can identify this man for me I would really appreciate it.

Thanks for reading,
CW Carlile

Do you have the right dates for Geary Van Artsdalen? There is a Geary Van Artsdalen buried in the Union Cemetery in South Dennis, NJ.

My wife is a Van Artsdalen whose Great Grandfather is buried in the Same cemetery.

My Geary was born 1907 and died unknown possibly in Texas or California. He was a Merchant Marine. Unfortunately there are several Geary VanA's, apparently one of the g/great grandmother's was a Ms Geary, but I need to do more research. I also am in contact with some of the blood descendants of the VanA's I am tracking.

If you are kin to the NJ VanArtsdalens you are possibly in the same family. I do know Geary and wife [my g/mother]were in Bayonne, NJ where they had their pictures made, possibly visiting family.

So far I have made it back to Harrison K. VanA abt 1853 and wife Jennie McLean they were married in Nebraska and their children were born in PA, NE and ID. So far I have more on their daughter Bertha VanA Elbens, than on Geary. I also know that Harrison VanA went into Canada to try farming and later came back, his wife Jennie stayed in the US.

I tried to attach a picture but it wouldn't let me. Please feel free to contact me with any questions.

We also have a "Mystery Photo" that is believed to belong to the Van Artsdalen family from Philadelphia, PA.

Would be so kind to take a look at this photograph to see if perhaps there is a family resemblence?

Also, if you have any Van Artsdalen connections that would be willing to review this portrait, please have them contact me at clhuntling@yahoo.com

Thanks

Connie

I didn't get the attachment so I emailed you directly with a picture of our Geary, so watch your junk mail file if you don't get it.

I sent your picture on but so far no one can identify him. But they'll keep looking.
