WILLIAM;

I KNOW THIS PROBABLY ISN'T THE RIGHT FAMILY BUT I AM LOOKING FOR MY GRANDFATHER WILLIAM LESLIE WHO LIVED IN CAPE BRETON NOVA SCOTIA AND I WAS WONDERING IF THIS WAS PART OF YOUR FAMILY. WILLIAM WAS MARRIED TO FLORA ROSE CAMPBELL AND HAD ONE SON MY FATHER JAMES ST JOHN LESLIE WHO IS NOW DECEASED. ROSE AS THEY CALLED HER WAS THE DAUGHTER OF EDWARD AND CATHERINE CAMPBELL AND DIED JUNE 5, 1946 AND IS BURIED IN STRATHLORNE CEMETARY IN STRATHLORNE CAPE BRETON. ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED.

Hello;
I have many William Leslies in my family, but none from Cape Breton. Do you have any information back to Scotland?
Regards
William Leslie

I AM WONDERING IF HE IS THE WILLIAM LESLIE THAT CAME TO CAPE BRETON FROM SCOTLAND. HE WOULD HAVE BEEN BORN IN 1881 AND I THINK HIS FATHER
WAS NAMED STEPHEN LESLIE. OTHER THAN THAT
I AM AT A STANDSTILL.

Hello Joanne;
You need to find some basic information about your William Leslie, such as:
Date of Birth, Date of Death, (death certificates sometimes show place of birth, and usually date of birth), or place of birth, ans approximate date of birth, then you can search Scots Origins. If you went into Scots Origins with just a name such as William Leslie, you would probably get hundreds of hits, and never be able to sort to your ancestor. You might also search Ships' passenger lists for the year 1881, you might find some basic information. My William Leslies back to my great grandfather, never left Scotland.
Regards
William Leslie
