I am searching for information on an orphanage in Ebo City, Florida in the late 1930's and 1940's. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Looking for records of some children that lived there during this time.

I think you're looking for information for "Ybor City", Florida (this is in Tampa). The correct spelling is "Ybor City", but most old-timers pronounce it "Ebo City".

There are over a dozen entries on p. 62-63 for institutions in Tampa in "Adoption Agencies, Orphanages and Maternity Homes: An Historical Directory" (published in 1982). 147 libraries claim to possess a copy of this book. This is according to WorldCat, an online resource accessible to librarians.

There are no entries for Ybor City or Ebo City.

The federal census of 1940 is expected to be made public after 72 years. It would contain entries for individuals residing in institutions of all types.
