My ancestor Jeremiah Hurley was born in Kilbeggan and the only Kilbeggan I could find was in Westmeath, but my Family Tree Maker puts the parish in Galway. I thought I would look in both counties, if anyone can help me I would greatly appreciate it. This is the start of my Hurley line in Ireland . JEREMIAH HURLEY was born 1797 in Ireland, Killbeggan Parish. Jeremiah married MARGARET DALEY Bet. 1820 - 1825.

My great great grandparents and my great grandparents lived in Killbeggan Parish.. HOWEVER, their marriages were performed in Delvin, Westmeath at the RC Church of the Assumption. I don't know why they would travel to the other side of the county...but they must of for a reason, unknown to me.

I also have a Jeremiah Hurley that I am having trouble placing. My Jeremiah was born abt. 1825 in Ireland, but I
am unable to locate the exact parish. He ended up in NY and I have info on his wife Ellen and descendents. Maybe your Jeremiah was his father? Maybe we could help each

Kilbeggan is situated on the River Brosna, in the south of County Westmeath. It lies southeast of Lough Ennell, is around 4 kilometres north of the boundary with County Offaly, and 9 kilometres north of the nearest sizeable town, Tullamore.
