Between 1840 to the early 1900's many families from the Cayman Islands immigrated to coastal areas of Central America. There is an active group of people researching these family trees in the Cayman Islands and the Bay Islands. Through this research many trees have been traced to the 1700's.

Some of the families that moved to Nicaragua (Bluefields and other coastal towns) from Cayman are:
Watler
Wood
Anderson
Ebanks
Pouchie
Carter
Rivers
Parchment
Bush
Eden
Thom(p)son
Bodden
Kelly
Parsons

plus many others

I am tracing these family trees and would appreciate hearing frm anyone who maybe able to link these Cayman families with those who moved to Nicaragua

Thanks
Rhona

Great to hear from you. Tried to reply directly but aol would not accept the address.

There are a couple of families that your husband could be descended from. I have Pouchie/Ebanks info going back to abt 1800 in the Cayman Islands and mid 1800's in Honduras

can your husband remember the first names of his grandparents? or any of their brothers or sisters - that would help place his Willie Pouchie

Please reply to me directly at <panton@telus.net>

Looking forward to hearing from you

Hello,
My name is Ivy Somers (Ebanks). My grand fathers name is Rubin Ebanks. He was born in Nicaragua. I don't know my great grandfathers name. I do know he was born in the Grand Caymans. My grandmothers side of the family also came from the Grand Caymans. Her family name was "Flashey" do you have any information on that name. My great grandfather was Samuel Wallingford Flashey (born in the Caymans) he married my great grandmother, Ivy Louise Taylor. My great great grandmother was Sara St.Clair also from the Caymans.
Thank you
Ivy Somers

Hello,

I know your posting is very old.. but I just had to reply. I hope this message gets to you. My Greatgrandmother immigrated to Puerto Cabeza, Nicarauga. Her name was Enid Bodden. My Grandmothers name is Sylvia Bodden Bobb.. she migrated to the US in the late 60's. My Mother later came in 1971. I would dearly like to learn of my roots, but its sooo hard to trace. I would love to have communications with you. Please contact me if you get this message.
