30 years ago my mother in law visited Draas and Stein to take her mother back to visit her roots. Relatives who still lived there gave her a lovely pillow slipcover they had made. I have it but cannot figure what one word is. Its "Siebenburgen susse Brimat or Beimat or Bremat "or something like that. Can anyone give me the correct word and/or the translation for the phraise? Thanks.

The phrase is "Siebenbürgen süsse Heimat" (Transylvania, sweet Homeland). (There are 2 umlauted u's, in case some systems don't show them correctly).

My last name is BRIMAT, and that is Hebrew. My grandfather was born is Israel and he was jewish. BRIMAT is a hebrew acronym that means Son of Rabbi JAcob from a Town.

My son is also a Brimat. His father was born in Israel. Perhaps you are related. My son is Daniel and his father's name was Moshe. We called him Ben. I hope you will reply. I would like to do Dan's genealogy.
Thanks, Norma

My grandfather's name is Ben, and I believe that your son might be my uncle. Does he have older brothers from a previous marriage to a Harriet?

I would almost bet the B is really a fancy H and then the translation (in German) would read:

Siebenburgen susse Heimat or in english:

Siebenburgen (7 Mountains) susse (sweet) Heimat (Homeland)

Hope this helps
