This is all I know about Wilhelm Roda. He was born 12 March 1839 in Ludwigsburg, Wurttenberg, Germany. His father was Ludwig Frederick Roda, born 9 Oct 1803 & died 7 May 1860. (He was a policeman.) His mother was Christianna SCHALLER, born 25 Feb 1804 in Backnang, Wurttemberg, Germany and died 10 April 1842 in Ludwigsburg, Wurttenberg, Germany. They were married 3 Mar 1829 in Backnang..

Hi, I'm also researching a Wilhelm Rode born around the same time. I'm not certain of his birth place. It's a little confusing. My Great Grandmother, Wilhelmina Rhode's birth certificate lists her father as Bartholomeus Rohde, yet on her marriage certificate in 1893, her father is listed as Wilhelm Rode. Wilhelmine was born in Osowka,1867. I only learned the name Wilhelm Rode about a week ago. Wilhelmine married Frederick Breitenbach and came to the Brooklyn, NY in 1895. They are listed in on ellisislandrecords.org as Breitenback. Anyway, Wilhelmine Rhode, Rohde, Rode had a least one sibbling named Herman or Hermann who also migrated to NY. He was a cabinet maker. I believe he went by the spelling Rhode or Rohde. Not sure. I'm unable to trace him in America.

I am trying to find Parents of my relative Herman Roede. He was born 1911 in Iowa?? He lived in Melvin, Osceola all his life. He is not listed in any census. I just found out that it might be Herman Rohde age 61 born in Germany. He was married to Wilhminnie(Hard to read) she was 51 born in Germany, They had one daughter listed Mary E age 18 born in Iowa.It list that they had six children I found this in the 1910 census living at Black Hawk, Grundy, IA which is near were Herman Roede lived. I assume this must be his parents and do not know why the name change. If this might be the family you can email me paulpuy@aol.com Paul

I see this is quite an old post but...Your Wilhelm must be a sibling to my Frederick Ludwig Roda b. 1 March 1834 Ludwigsburg, wurttemberg, germany d. 17 Nov 1892 Newago MI USA. It was in this generation that the name change to Rode occured apparently.

Have you been able to find any additional ancestors to Ludwig and Chritianna that you are willing to share?
