I'm tickled to find Mary in my family tree. Is anyone else here descended from Mary, and through what line? Mine is:
Mary-->John-->Nathaniel-->John-->John-->Elijah-->Sarah Ann (who married George F. Fessenden)-->Charles-->
Sarah(who married W. E. Jones)-->ME.

My husband is descended through Mary's younger brother Joseph Towne. I have quite a lot of info on the trials of Mary and her two sisters, Rebecca and Sarah. Rebecca and Mary were hanged but Sarah was fortunate in that the hangings were stopped before she was executed. The home of Rebecca Towne Nurse and her husband Francis is still standing in Danvers, Mass. Try this website - salemwitchmuseum.com - for a lot of info on these families and the trials. There is a book written by a descendant of Mary Estey about the trials and her specifically. The recent movie "The Crucible" features Rebecca and Francis Nurse. I am not sure if Mary Esty is mentioned in it. Let me know if I can help you with any of this family. I have Mary's parents, grandparents and great grandparents as well as all their children and many dates.

I had an aunt who had worked on the family lineage and she always said that we were related to Mary Estes(Esty) but I have not been able to track the line yet. Her children have not located the documentation that she might have had. She kept so much of the information she gathered in her head and we were never able to convince her to get it written down. I'd be interested in any information that you might have on her. Please contact me.

Thanks for replying. This is a start. I'll have to get my lineage out and see what the connection is.

feel free to post your lineage on the message board, susan. i plan to write a book based on the genealogies of the sufferers of the salem witch trials of 1692 and, with your permission, i would like to add yours to my research. i also plan to dedicate the book in honor of those that were executed, accused, and others that were unwittingly involved. feel free to email me at irishmn37@aol.com and i will be glad to receive it or you could also post a message on this board for me. thanks.

I have been researching Elizabeth Fosse who married 1) Thomas Fosse and 2) Benjamin Brown I descend from this Fosse/Brown line. It was only recently that I have discovered Elizabeth Fosse and then husband Thomas Fosse ( the prisionkeeper at Ipswich) testafied in behalf of Mary Towne Estee/Esty's trial in Salem. Does anyone know any more about the Fossee's?? I am trying to find Elizabeth's maiden name.

Just found your post of 2003! Would love to know the name of the book which includes Mary Este. I have "Devil in Massachusetts", but I read a comment that there are numerous inaccuracies. Is there any other way to contact you? I am a direct descent. My grandmothers name was Myrtia McClaughton Bright.
