Looking for Lippers....

Looking for Lippers....

Posted: 24 Sep 2012 6:31PM GMT
Classification: Query
Surnames: Lipper
I am interested in finding ancestors of:

Patrick Lipper
and Nora/Honora/Minogur/Minogue Lipper

A little information:
Patrick:
B: abt 1839
D: abt 1906 Co Clare Ireland
1901: Shepherd in Whitegate Galway Ireland

Nora:
B: abt 1844
D: 6 Jun 1922
Residence 1900: Australia
1908: Emmigration to New York

Their Children:
Katharine (Tevlin)
Patrick (My Great Grandfather)
John
Fanny
Delia Bridget
Thomas
Martin
Michael
Mary

I would be interested in finding anything out beyond Ancestry info about those who came before Patrick/Nora...Photos, Land papers etc. I'm posting this in the County Clare section as well because there are several pointers in that area as well and I am not privy to the proximity of Clare and Galway.

Thank you GREATLY in advance for any help you can give and if you'd like to view my tree for more information (I think I set it to public but Ancestry is very finicky when it comes to this) I would be happy to add you as a guest!

:)
Michael

These early dates but you can try the parish records for
Galway. Genealogically Galway is divided into East and West but both belong to an Irish Historical Foundation. This resource is a not for profit but fee paying website.
Clare is not a member and I don't know of any online parish information from Clare. If you try googling you may find
some: eg: parish records - Clare, Ireland you never know.

www.familysearch.org has civil records from 1864+ but also
on the main page if you scroll down and look on the left side of the place you will find UK/Ireland records, click on this then scroll down the next page to Ireland. Apparently they have some RC records and also the IGI, International Genealogy Index. ( I have an old cd from the
Latter Day Saints with births registered between 1864-1875.
If there are any I will put at the end.

There are two census substitutes for before 1901/1911

The Tithe Applotments, occupiers of land 1820-1839.
www.genealogy.nationalarchives.ie

The Griffith Valuations, 1846-1874 also occupiers of land
www.askaboutireland.ie

1855 Clare 0 Lipper's
1856 Galway 0 Lipper's
0 Lippers in Ireland's Griffith Valuation's

1871 UK Census has 2 Lipper's both born Ireland, living in a Lodging house, Belfast Ireland is where they came from.
Both are Innuitant's (?) perhaps living on an innuity (sp)
from someone's will?

Directories of Dublin have two listings 1856 & 1864 in the Thom's Irish Almanac but this is going to sound strange but
the writing doesn't explain who they were by name just that they are listed under Nobility & Gentry/Merchants & Traders.
...r, 8 Baggot Street, Lipper - Rev. Gcoi'go, m.a.Carysford Ave. Blackr ??????????????????

You could try looking up the Almanac, it is on a program I use for researching Ireland.

Jane 57 and Anne 34, living in Malvern Gr. Worchester, UK

1901/1911 Census www.census.nationalarchives.ie

1901 13 Lipper's, either Drummaan Clare or Glentworth Limerick
1911 6 only 2 Dublin, 4 Limerick

Andrew Lipper born 16 June 1870, born Rathmichael, Dublin

fa: Daniel Lipper Mo: Anne Lowry FHL Film 101206

This is the only listing for all of Ireland between the years of 1864-1875.
