I am trying to trace my husbands family but he can only go as far back as his grandfather who was born in 1922. I have no mother or father of this grandfather as i think he may have been put in a childrens home. Is there any way of finding out more with such limited information?

Hello,
Have you got a marriage certificate for the grandfather born 1922? This should give a father's name & occupation. Sometimes witnesses names can be useful.

Have you found any likely candidates for his birth in the GRO registers?

Can you give any more information on what you do know? What area of the UK are you looking at for instance.

Regards,
