Where do I find the census for Ireland? Or other info on Ancestry.com??
I am looking for any records for Galway births on my Grt Grandfather John Fitzpatrick abt:1859, he had at least 1 sister Mary Fitzpatrick (m John Quinn) his father was Thomas (journeyman baker is all I have on him). My father was told by someone in Ireland that they were from Ballinisloe County Galway but I cannot connect any dates with this Fitzpatrick clan.
So If anyone has info for birth's, deaths etc in 1800's. I also could use guidance.
Thanks, Suz Fitzpatrick-Amrhein

All Irish census records prior to 1901 were destroyed with some minor exceptions. Civil records of Roman Catholic BMD's were not required prior to 1864. Commonly information comes from church records most, if not all, of which are on LDS film. If you Google "Ballinasloe LDS records" you will see that some of the records go back to 1820. The LDS films can be viewed at an LDS viewing center nearest you.
