I'm a descendant of Edward Cathers (or Cather) through his daughter Elizabeth who married Jonathan Sellers and through their daughter Peggy who married Jesse Moore. I have some information on these families. I've been trying to find more info on the Moore line. Contact me.

What time frame do you have on these "Cathers"?
I have an Anne Jane Cathers born 1840's in Ireland. Married William Chandler Smith in Ontario, Canada. She supposedly came to the U.S. around 1858--cannot find her on a ship's list--and stayed with her relations--the Moores--who were something to do with shipping.

Edward Cathers, Sr. was my gggg-grandfather. His wife Elizabeth (Ross) was born ca. 1759 in either Fermanough Ireland or somewhere in Maryland. He and his son Edward Jr. and Jr's wife Hannah Reams are buried in north Laurel County, KY (plain stones, no markings). Hope this helps you.

I am interested in the Jesse Moore and Peggy Cathers that you mention. Do you have any information on Jesse Moore/Peggy Cathers: When they were born, their childrens names? My great great grandfathers name was Jesse Andrew Moore he was born in 1841 to Thomas Moore and Sarah "Sally" McFadden. Thomas was born about 1808....I think that Jesse Moore and Peggy Cathers may have had a son named Bartlett Moore born in 1801, but I would have to look through my papers......I would be very interested in any information that you have on these families.....I think that one of Thomas' daughters married a gentleman by the name of Henry Cathers, but again I will need to review my notes.

My George W Henson family line of 1828 Laurel Co KY married with the Reams family. Curious if you have the parents of your Hannah Reams who married Edward Cathers JR. As a side note, my George W Henson married Anna Forbis, a grandaughter of Rev War Vet John Forbis of Laurel Co KY. George and Anna were married July 21, 1825 Martin Co Indiana. I understand some of the Cathers were of Martin Co IN too. Thanks for sharing. 'R.E.'

The information that I have shows that Lucy Ann Moore, b. 17 May 1851, d. 20 August 1935, married Henry H. Cathers, b. 10 February 1843, d. 8 April 1924, was the son of Edward Cathers Jr and Hannah Reams. Henry and Lucy married 14 September 1866 in Laurel Co, KY. Both Henry and Lucy are buried at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Laurel Co. I have that they had 13 children.

Edward Cathers and Hannah Reams Cathers had a son also named Bartlett Cathers, b. 17 August 1844 (I have additional info.). I also have 7 other children listed for Edward and Hannah with some information on each of them.

I have a Jesse Moore, b. in Va who married Elizabeth Hicks on 19 January 1838 in Laurel Co.

I am not "directly" related to the Cathers family, however my g grandfather's sister married into this line and I do have some information on the line.

Thank you for your response. Lucy Ann Moore was a younger sister of my great grandfather Jesse Andrew Moore. Their parents were Thomas Moore and "Sarah" Sally McFadden...I think that her marriage to Edward Cathers was her 2nd marriage, but I need to go through my information. I am looking for any information on their grandparents....
I am curious about the Jesse Moore that married Elizabeth Hicks, was this a 2nd marriage for him, was he older when he married Elizabeth Hicks?....(I am wondering if this Jesse Moore born in VA may have been Thomas' father)?
Thomas was born abt 1808.
