I am looking for information on the Askins in Hickman Co., TN. I'm at a brickwall with locating Joseph Askins father. I have Joseph Askins in the 1860 Hickman Co., TN. Census and is listed with his Mother named Mary. Census shows her to be a widow and born in SC. Any one out there on the same line as me?

Thanks

my g-g-grandfather Joseph Askins came here from SC and is buried here at Bethel Cem., Fayetteville, Tenn. Could this be part of the same clan? If so, I have some info on my folks.

My 2nd Great Grandfather was J G Askins, born January 24, 1843 and died September 23, 1917 in Tye, Texas. His father was Joseph Askins that was born in South Carolina. J G married Dona Randolph, born January 3, 1849 in Alabama and died May 20, 1937 in Dallas, Texas. They had a daughter named Lucinda Susanna Askins, born January 26, 1869 in Fayetteville, Tennessee and died on August 15, 1959 in Abilene, Texas. Does this sound like the same family that you are talking about?

that's us. Joseph Gault Askins is a brother to Robert Hamilton Askins, my great grandfather. I have from there back a few generations. I wrote a book in 1978 listing many of these folks, including some, I believe, from Tye, Texas. I will send you all info I have, if you want it. Robert, his father and mother, etc are all buried here. I'll be happy to send you all the info I have, if you want it.
Regards,
Bill Askins
