Wingert Family

I am looking for information on Wingerts in Frankin County Pennsylvania and close by areas. The earliest I have is a Johannes Wingert married to a Shirk. They hasd a son Jonathon, who had a son Jacob. Jacob had a son John C. (possibly Crider). That is all I have on any of these. John C had a son Tobias Crider Wingert (1821-1904) who married Barbara Hoover (1830-1859) may have then married Catherine (died May 6, 1920). They had three daughters per family tradition, but I oly hgacve the name of one, my Great Grandmother Elizabeth Hoover Wingert, married Samuel brechbiel.

There is a Tobias C. Wingert buried in Ringgold, Maryland (see messsage board info).

Thank you; I think I have my records straight now. The big culprit was the Wingert line crosed over a few others enough to get confusing. Brothers marrying sisters (not heir own) etc. Then some record sshow Wingert and some Wenger. I show a Martin Wenger, but way back. He would be my 6th great uncle, son of Johannes (Hans) Wenger (ca 1705 -1772) and Anna Burkhart Shirk (ca 1704-ca 1771).

It sure is fun(?) tracking down names that are loclly everywhere: Baker, Brechbiel, Wingert, Hoover, etc.

I'll check the website out, thank you again. Joel
