Identifying military buttons

Identifying military buttons

Hello, I was wondering if anyone could help with identifying some buttons I've inherited. I'm fairly sure that the first two are Navy but don't know the dates and the last one was made by Miller, Rayner and Haysom who seem to have made buttons for the commercial aircraft industry but if anyone has any ideas that would be greatly appreciated! The last one has a lion holding a globe with a crown over it. Many thanks

For the first 2 I believe the lack of a crown on such “clean” items indicates they are not royal navy; that's just my opinion.

1 = Merchant Navy Officer (possibly waistcoat button or collar stud) generic

2 = Merchant Navy Officer generic type

3 (Crown, Lion + Globe) = Cunard Line Ship’s Officer badge (1879? to 1900+) Crown permitted as company ran Royal Mail Ships.

Hi Jeff,

thanks for your email. I was guessing Royal Navy from a quick ebay search - never a good idea so thank you for this. I did wonder whether the last one was a ship or railway button, I will have do a bit of research on those. Many thanks
