Surnames: Welch Corbitt
Are there any Welch/Welsh or Corbitts left in Tipperary?
I am searching for Margaret Welch b 1831, immigrated to US 1850, born in Tipperary.
Her father was James Welch. I know nothing about his birth or death in Tipperary. I am totally lost besides being from Tipperary, Ireland.
Any thoughts are welcome.

In the Tipperary phone book there are 3 Welsh in Tipperary
2 in a place called Golden, Welch seems to be every where but Tipperary unless the 1 listing for Dunkathal Glanmure is in Tipperary. No listings for Corbitt's in Tipperary.
No Dunkathal is Cork.

There are 3 Corbitt's listed in South Riding, Tipperary in the
Parish's of Erry, Kilmurry and Rathronan. There are
Welsh/Walsh in Co.Tipperary South Riding only in the Parish of Kilmurry and 18 are listed there.

The Corbitt's as follows:

Patrick Corbitt, Parish of Erry, Grangemore Townland, Poor
Law Union Cashel tenant of Edward O'Ryan

#9 house outbuilding and land 9 acres 3 roods 28 perches

John Corbitt, Parish of Kilmurry, Townland Curraghbadobbin,
Poor Law Union Carrick-on-Suir, tenant of Martin Flynn

#7AaB house and small garden

John Corbit(note) Parish of Rathronan, Rathronan Demesne,
PLU Clonmel, tenant of Viscount Gough

1e house

You can find the Welsh/Walsh on www.askaboutireland.ie
this is spelling specific - so you may need to look under
Walsh rather than Welsh.

No way of knowing if these are yours.

1846:
James Walsh, Cashel, Boherclough corn dealer, miller
James Walsh, Nenagh 59 Barrack St. Carpenter & wheelwright

Any baptism or marriages prior to 1864 are Parish records.
There are some Catholic records at the National Archives in Dublin, also on Latterday Saints, with bits and pieces
elsewhere. There is an Irish History Foundation which has
parish records for both North and South Tipperary.

Googling Kilmurry S. Tipperary parish record - rootsweb has some records 1786-1812 marriages 1803 and it is noted by the National Archives that the records are in a mutilated condition.

One website with parish maps notes that Walsh is the most
common name in 1851 Griffith Valuations.

Annette, thank you for the speedy reply. The info is very helpful. I am not absolutely sure of the connection but I plan to check this out when I go to Ireland, next summer.
Do you have any information on McLaughlins in Cork?
Again, thank you.

This one really surprised me that in 1852 Cork for Griffith
Valuation that there were only 2 McLaughlin's!! you could of knocked me over with a feather.

John McLaughlin, Parish of Macroom, Townland Sleveen E.
Poor Law Union Macroom, tenant of Timothy Lynch

#57 Main Street, house and yard

Eliza McLaughlin, Parish of St. Anne Shandon, City of Cork
Poor Law Union Cork tenant of Mary Byrne

#124 Shandon Street, house, outbuilding and yard

No McLaughlin's in any directories 1824, 1846, 1870, 1881 or 1894.

There are 15 McLaughlin's in the Cork telephone book.None in the City of Cork, there are others but in Dublin.

298 church of Ireland marriages from 1783-1867 the earliest are in Roscommon.

Dublin; Londonderry; Belfast, Antrim; Donegal; Tyrone; Fermanagh; etc. only the following are Cork:

John McLaughlin married Margaret Williams 9 Dec 1854
St. Paul, Cork, Ireland LDS FHL Film #101355
Fa: William McLaughlin Fa:James Williams
