Lena Guidry of Rayne, I believe to be a cousin of my Grandfather, Alcee Guidry who married Eva Marie Bertand.

Alcee was orphaned, we believe, any information, please let me know.

Thank you for your quick reply, is there any way to find who Alcee Guidry's family might be? I have no leads, except for cousins living in Rayne, La with a daughter Lena.

Deon,

The only indexed Lena Guidry I could pull up in census records was not a "she":

1900 US CENSUS
Ward 3, Acadia Parish, Louisiana
Series: T623 Roll: 556 Page: 94
June 26, 1900
DWELLING 456 / FAMILY 456
GUIDRY, Lena (Head), b, m, Oct 1875, 24, single, LA, LA, LA, farmer
GUIDRY, Elens/Elena? (mother), b, f, Jan 1850, 50, widow, 5 children-5 living, LA, LA, LA
GUIDRY, Jennie/Zennie? (brother), b, m, Jan/Jun? 1882, 18, single, LA, LA, LA, farm laborer
GUIDRY, Jago (brother) b, m, Nov 1886, 13, single, LA, LA, LA
GUIDRY, Sazare (brother), b, m, Mar 1892, 8, single, LA, LA, LA
GUIDRY, Lazare (brother), b, m, July 1893, 6, single, LA, LA, LA

Would you at least know approximately when these people were born, and when they were Acadia and St. Martin Parish.

Another couple of questions, please.

Rayne is in Acadia Parish and Breaux Bridge is in St. Martin Parish.

When were Lena Guidry or Alcee/Alce Guidry in St. John The Baptist Parish?

Is it Lena you are looking for information on or is it Alce/Alcee, or both.

Okay, I came across a 1910 census record showing an Alces GUIDRY, I think he was about 6, shown to be adopted by a family in St. John The Baptist Parish, Louisiana.

Before I could gather the data, the website I use for researching census data, went down. As soon as they are back up and running, I'll go after the data.

My mother is Florence Guidry who married August J. Clement
Florence is the daughter of Alcee, she does not remember much of her fathers family.
She believes his family was from St. Martinville. He lost his parents and was raised by Lena Guidry's father's family. She remembers going to Lena's house in Rayne when she was a young girl.

I believe Lena Guidry's family were in Rayne in the 1925
or 1930's. My mom is 91 and 3 of her brothers and sisters are still alive in SW Louisiana. No one seems to know of Alcee's family, he died at 45 yrs old.

Thank you so much for your help, it is a part of the family we don't know much about.

I will serch the adopted family for a mention of his parents
Thank You, the search is still on.

You have been a great help, I don't believe any of his children even know this much. Thank You
