Lutheran baptismal records 1880's

My relative was born in Milwaukee around the 1880's. I know the church he attended and was most likely baptized. The church has subsequently closed and I don't know how to get those older records. Any suggestions?

You can try the Lutheran Church Archives here
http://www.elca.org/Who-We-Are/History/ELCA-Archives.aspx

Scroll down the left sidebar to where it says Genealogy and microfilms. I have borrowed microfilm from them before - when you get it, you can take it to your local library and use their microfilm reader.

It would be typical to list the name of the Lutheran church in the online posting (including the synod if known). But the online catalogs of the Wisconsin Historical Society, or its satellite collection in the UW-Milwaukee Golda Meir Library Archives, or the FHL library catalog may reference the church.
