Looking at Scotlandspeople for 1882 only there are two female Dalrymple births in 1882 in Leith:

Catherine McFarland Watson with twin John Watson mother being Elizabeth Stobie widow of William Dalrymple, Merchant seaman, father Robert Watson, labourer - illegitimate. Born 13th September 1882 at 4.30 pm 13 Lauries Close, Leith

Rachel Jane Dalrymple parents Philip Penman Dalrymple/Elizabeth Wilkie Dalyrymple nee Graham

Any fit your query? A first name ?

I have added additional details to the birth of Catherine. Her brother John died 12 June 1883 from Bronchitis Rachitis.

The cat got hold of me and just in case you did not know - Elizabeth Stobie (out door worker) was 19 when she married William Dalrymple (Carter) 23 on the 1st July 1870 at 1 Smiths Place South Leith. Living together at 17 Yardhead Street, Leith.

His parents were Alexander Dalrymple and Helen Hamilton while Elizabeth's were Thomas Stobie and Christina Forbes.

In the 1871 census they were living at 13 Steads Place which indicates that William was born in the parish of Cramond while Elizabeth was Leith.

In 1881 she was at 14 Lawries Close a widow with daughters Elizabeth 3, Christina aged 10 and sons Thomas 6 James 5mts. Among others at this address were Robert Watson (40) widower with Christina 16, Maggie 11 and others as boarders

A James Allan McDonald Stobie, illegitimate was born 25 October 1881 according to the registration details to the widow Elizabeth whose husband was drowned off Copenhagen in 1877 James later died 5th Seotember 1881 Bronchitis. I reckon the birth registration was delayed and should read 1880 which would tie in with the census and death ages.
