Hi Alan
I am just starting out on this journey and according to my cousin Frederick Fox is related to me.
Hopefully he will send more details, but it goes something like this:
William had a son Robert Daines who married Mary Newby

They had a son Edward Fox Daines who married Ann Jefferies in 1854
They had a son Walter Fox Daines who came to NZ with his parents and lived in Blenheim.
I think he married Ann Fraser. One of his children was James Benjamin who was my Grandfather.
I'll get back to you when I know more.

Hi Marlene
My name is Jeanette McGovern. I was Jeanette Daines from Blenheim NZ. My email address is mcgovern@paradise.net.nz
I emailed Alan Jessop as I have just received a family tree from my cousin and I contacted Alan as we have a Frederick Fox Daines in our tree. Was wondering if it is the same one.
I started out doing my husband's maternal grandmother's tree and got sidetracked with bits of the Daines one as well.
I need to contact my cousin as there seems to be an error as the names don't quite match what a Daines from Eltham NZ has - seems like the 3 families from NZ are all connected some way.
I have just got family tree maker and am trying to work my way around how it works.
Would live to be able to view your tree then get back to you about the links etc that I have.
Walter Fox Daines came to NZ with his parents in 1866 I think. It's the next 2 generations that don't quite match.
Hope to hear from you soon.
Thanks
Jeanette McGovern

Hi Jeanette: Forgot to tell you that I too got the tree maker for Christmas but my husband a pc tech says it was a waster of time as they have glitches in them . 2012 vesion may be ok. Their only value is the 3 months of free ancestry.ca coupon that comes with them. Sorry. Back to Daines family Frederick Fox Daines can be found mentioned in the Bauburgh Mill story on line. He is on the 2nd last page of the brochure. Apparently he was deaf at birth so for that time period didn't leave England but he did work at the Mill as a miller they say but more likely an agricultural worker. Did you browse my tree? Marlene

Hi Alan
Can't remember if I got back to you. Edward David Daines (my great great grandfather) son of Frederick Fox Daines married Ann Jeffries in 1862. They came to NZ on the Wild Duck in 1866 when their son Walter was 10. This does not quite add up. I haven't yet found a birth certificate for him. There is some confusion about the Edward David Daines who married Clara Perkins and someone else, but I have the marriage certificate for his marriage to Anne Jeffries.
