Surnames: STEVENS, RADLEY
My database includes all the Stevens that I have ever found in Taylor, Cortland County, NY and there is no Clarence. I have not seen the name RADLEY in Taylor either. The surname does not appear in all of Cortland County in either the 1925 state census index or 1880 federal census index for the County. What time period are you looking for? I have seen the name Radway in Truxton and Homer. Could that be what you are looking for?

Stevens

I have been interested in any VINING in Cortland County. Our line begins with Thomas Philo Vining, who died 15 Oct. 1851 in Taylor, and was buried in Potter Hill Cemetery, town of Taylor, with his wife Nancy. Had 8 children: Cynthia (Mrs. John Potter; John; Laura (Mrs. Phylander Potter; Lucinda; Eveline (Mrs. Howard Henry); Julia (Mrs. Hiram Henry--our line--buried by her parents); Charles; and Chauncey.

Of the Vining children, Charles had 6 children named Vining in Cincinnatus: Nancy (Mrs. Wm. Parker); Benjamin L.; John; George; & Jenny. His son, Benjamin L. Vining, 1862-1933, had 8 children: Hazel (Mrs. Clifford Parker); Nellie (Mrs. Frank Parker); Steven; Benjamin; Frank; Albert; and Edward. Of the children, his son, Albert, 1901-1966 had 4 children.

I do have a fair amount of detail, including obituaries, and a book, The Vinings in America by Mrs. Barnes, which traces Thomas Philo Vining's ancestry to: Abijah5, Samuel4, Samuel3, John2, Robert1, of Wincanton, Somerset, England.

David:

I was looking at your transcription of the burials at Taylor Rural Cemetery. My wife's ggreatgrandparents are buried there, Jackson CRAFT and his wife Roxanna BARRETT CRAFT. In regard to Jackson the transcription reads "son of,,,,,.
Does this mean the names of his parents were blank or that the stone was unreadable.
This is a big break for us. Jackson was injured in the Civil War
and apparently died soon after returning home. I intend to order his pension file from the NARA, but they recently raised the price from ten dollars to 37 dollars. Ouch!!

Thanks
Gary

Do you have anything in your research on a Pardon H Lyon or a Joseph and Abigail Lyon. They are buried in Potter Hill Cemetary in Taylor. Pardon is my gg grandfather and I am trying to find his parents. In the same cemetary plot is a Joseph and Abigail; their ages might indicate that they are his parents. But I can't prove it yet. Thanks.

I do not have anything on Pardon Lyon that is proof of relations, but suspect you are probably right. He is in Taylor in 1855, age 54, born in Vermont, resident 1 year with his 2nd wife, Ruby (Smith), age 34. She died in 1896 and was buried in Union Valley. He has 3 children there from 1st wife, Huldah M., 16; Joseph H., 14, both born Wayne County, NY; and Pardon H. Jr., age 10, b. Cortland County. Pardon Jr. was in the Civil War. Also there is Ruby's son, Luman B. Smith, 11. He is also buried in Union Valley. He is on Potter Hill in this census.

Sorry I could not help further.
