Searching for relatives of my grandfather and grandmother, George Male, and his wife Genevieve Hickman who lived in Buffalo, New York and operated a dairy there in the late 1800's and early 1900's. George Male was the son of Thomas Male and Sarah Hallett, both of whom were born in England. My father, George Hickman Male was born in Buffalo on 19 April 1896.

Martha, Thanks for the reply to my query. Unfortunately your great-grnadfather does not appear to be the same George MALE I am searching for. I my case, the 1st wife of George MALE was Genevieve Hickman. She died about 1911 and I believe he remarried again. Do you have any approximate dates of birth or marriage for your MALE line? Did any of them live in Buffalo, New York? Thanks again for your reply and good luck with your searching. Regards, Mel Male

Mel, I am searching for information about my g grandmother, Jeannie Male. She was from the Buffalo, NY area and when she died in 1953 she still had a sister who lived there by the name Clara Male Graves. Jeannie was born in 1867 and her family came from England. That is all I know about her. Does any of this sound familiar to you?

Mel, thanks so much for the info. I do believe this is her, for she is born the same year. My grandma said she thought her name was Martha but they always called her Mary. What kind of info would I need to research her and George's family's roots in England?

Finding your links to England may be difficult with only their names and ages from the US census. I have taken a quick look through some data I have but could not come up with anything but I will try again as soon as I have some time. One of the internet resources I have found the most useful in researching the MALE surname in England is the Bristol/Somerset Mailing List. This is accessed through e-mail. To subscribe send a message to Bristol_and_Somerset-D-request@rootsweb.com and include the word subscribe in the message. There is a large concentration of MALE's in Somerset. There are similar mailing lists for other parts of England as well. I have also used the LDS's IGI search with some sucess. The home page can be found at http://www.familysearch.org/. Ancestry is another place to try, http://www.ancestry.com/.

Re: Male's In Buffalo New York Area
My Grandfather's name was George Male, married to Audrey, and lived theie whole lives in Buffalo. My father was one of three brothers, Jerry, Brian, and Colin. They had one sister, Cheryl. My father was born in 1925, and so his father may be one of the Male's you are seeking.
