Although my father was Irish, family lore says that he spent most early years in an orphanage/home run by French speaking nuns in Massachusetts in the 1930s. Fall River is a name that comes up, but cannot be sure --Does anyone know of a list of Catholic children's homes in Massachusetts? Or any ideas?

St. Joseph Orphan's Home located at 56 St. Joseph Street, Fall River Ma. was run by the French speaking Canadian "Sisters of Charity" also known as the "Grey Nuns". The home started in the late 1800's when Fall River was part of Rhode Island. Sam Folger (pachirini@yahoo.com)

My mother was Irish and she was placed in an orphanage in Boston in the 1920s. I would like to find out the name of the orphanage. I know that it was run by Catholic Nuns and there was an elaborate wrought iron gate at the entrance because I have a photo of my mother in front of the gate and remember her talking about the nuns. Would appreciate any info. Thanks
