Around 1853, Elisabeth Ballis immigrated from Lembach to Louisiana and married Charles Frosch from Prussia. They had three children and then returned to Lembach where two children died (1859 & 1860) and one was born on Feb 3 1860. The birth record states that Charles was born in Lauterbach, Prussia around 1830. Are there accessible church records for Lembach that might give me more info on Charles. Can anyone give me a lead on Lauterbach, Prussia. He could not read or write and was a laborer.

hy there,

at this time, 1830, Lembach was in Prussia, but now is a French city in Alsace region (département du Bas-Rhin). Same could be with "Lauterbach" (german name) that could be "Lutterbach" now (département du Haut-Rhin).
Don't know if that could help you!

Have a look at geneanet.org
Search for frosch in lauterbach.

Two of the trees on line there have a Carl FROSCH b 11 Dec 1830, son of Johann and Maria Magdalena GONDOLF.

Angela
