My great great grandfather is also a decendant of Ben Smith and Mahala Sweet. My line is as follows.Their son Haden Smith born 1858 and his wife Margaret Ann Adams born January 1856. Their son Emerson Shelby Smith born February 1883 and his wife Anna Burris. Their daughter Emma Lee Smith Born January 1911 and her husband William Roe Miller born July 1909. Their son Kenneth Eugene Miller born August 1938 and his Wife Anna Elizabeth Martin born September 1940. Then there is me, their daughter, Kembery Miller. Unfortunatly all of my grandmother brothers are now deceased.

I to am a decendant of Ben and Mahala Smith, I found records showing that brothers Henderson and Elijah Smith of Wayne co. ky. both were in the civil war. It lists them as being 5'2' and 5'0" both with blond hair and blue eyes, they were both discharged on the same day after serving one yr. they were the same unit and is my linage, me, my dad william smith sr, john othal smith, melburn (melvin)smith, granville smith, Benjamin smith, I also have marriage bonds of granville and melvin.

Hi Dub, You have reminded me I need to update this post.We have had a match on this family in the DNA study, We are related to a family from Essex county, VA the oldest known member is William Smith. He wrote his will in Dec.1760 & died either 1762 or 1765. He named six children in his will
William Smith, Robert Smith, Thomas Smith, Augustine Smith, Elizabeth Burnett, Mary Woodin Alis Smith
We match at least 25 markers so we definately are related tto this man.
