I don't have a Mary Orr m. Samuel Ramsey in my database -- but I can't believe there isn't a connection. My William Orr was b. 1761 in Mecklenburg County, NC. I also have some Ramseys (also Mecklenburg) -- a Rachel Ramsey (b. 1773 in NC) who married my John Gracey. They moved to Giles County, TN while William Orr ended up in Williamson County. A number of my Orrs were also in Marshall County. In your files do you see any connection in Marshall County with the Bear Creek Cumberland Presbyterian Church -- lots of the Orrs (mine at least ) were members of the church. It's now abandoned, but I managed to see it on my last trip to Tennessee and have some interesting stuff on the history of the church etc. Would be delighted to exchange files. Do let me know.

I have not found Rebecca Orr and you did not give me any dates. But the first Marshall Co. Orr to settle there was ROBERT ORR who immigrated to Williamson Co., TN from NC and then settled near Belfast in 1808, which then was Bedford Co. TN. Marshall was not formed until 1836. ROBERT ORR was born in 1764 and died in 1855 and the son of John Orr of NC (1740-1807). I also found a Joseph L. Orr who was appointed Postmaster of Belfast May 7, 1885. The 1857 Agraicultural Census of Marshall Co, Dist. 5 in Belfast has the following: John Leonard, Robert A. Orr, Samuel Orr, John Orr, John Orr, Sr. and R.J. Orr. I have taken this info from the 1971 Marshall Co. Historical Society magazine. Robert Orr's children were John, William, Robert J., Ester, Sally, Leah and Elizabeth. If you think this is the family then I will help you and put it in Register format.
