HELP! I have been searching for over thirty years for information on my great-grandfather Jeremiah Kennelly. His death certificate (08MAY1891 - Chicago) states that he was 38 years old at the time of his death. That should make him born around 1853. It also states that he was born in "Ireland". Neither parents names are stated. I believe that he was married to Margaret CARROLL. Any help out there? Thanx.

Hi John,
The Jeremiah name is very strong in my Kennelly family. My ancestors were from Co.Limerick and my grandfather was born about 1836. I suggest you get a copy of the marriage certificate as that is likely to give you more information or look up the census - lots of info there.

Good luck.....Helen

Did you get the Illinois death certificate on the 1891 death?

There was a Jeremiah Kennelly, b abt 1832, that arrived at NY from Tralee abroad a ship name "Speed" on Nov 27, 1852, He was a tailor.

There was another Jeremiah Kennelly b abt 1861, arrived in Ny on July 6, 1882 aboard the ship "Parthia" out of Liverpool & Queenstown.

Another Jeremiah Kennelly age 17 arrived in Boston in 1871.

Hello-
Last Fall I was searching for my aunt's grave. I discovered that she was buried in Calvary cemetery and the desk clerk made a copy of the record for the block of graves. On it is listed a Jeremiah Kennelly who died in 1881 and was buried 8/27/1881 rather than 1891. Could the death certificate have been unclear? Also, it has (5-1-0) after his name and a under location, it lists that he was previously interred on 8/20/81 in 91 37V which ,I am assuming, is another location. I have wondered why he was moved only a week after he was buried. I have been trying to find out more about the individuals listed since, I believe, they are all related in some way. I know how several are related, but not all. Let me know if you think this is your Jeremiah Kennelly.

Thank you for your reply. I would very much like to share information on the Kennellys around Shanagolden, Kilcolman and Mahoonagh area. I know from a cousin in British Columbia (common ancestor John Kennelly, Sr., son of Edmund/Edward Kennelly) that we have relatives in Australia and New Zealand. Perhaps you are one of them! My email is dkadams00@gmail.com. I'm happy to share anything I have.

I am descended from a Jeremiah Kennelly from Shanagolden who settled in Susquehanna County, Pennsylvania. This is the incription on his tombstone in the St. Francis Xavier Cemetery in Friendsville, Pennsylvania:

Kennelly, Jeremiah, born in Co. Limerick, Ireland, Parish of Shanagolden, d. Mar. 24, 1890, aged 75 yrs
Bridget, his wife, born in Co. Limerick, Ireland, Parish of Robertstown, d. Dec. 9, 1887, aged 70 yrs.

I believe Bridget's maiden name was Shaughnessy.
