Ga/Al/Ms James Mosley/Mosely

My ancestors originally came from Ga. They then moved to Alabama, settling eventually in Monroe County, Ms. The earliest known Mosley ancestors in my family are as follows:
Laura Florence Cain was born June 14, 1818 in Ga, and died January 19, 1902. She married James Madison Mosley. He was born October 1819 in Ga, and died February 1891. Both are buried in Sardis cemetery in Monroe County, Ms.
Children of Laura Cain and James Mosley are:
1. Elizabeth A. Mosley, born in Al. abt 1844.
2. Harriet (Isabella?) Mosley, born in Al. Bet. 1848 - 1849. married John A Verner, widowed (and possibly remarried to Brag Jackson, but not yet proven.)
It is possible that "Harriet Isabella" are actually 2 separate daughters. At this time, I believe however, that Isabella was Harriet's Middle name.
Isabella Mosley Verner was widowed and had a 3 y/o daughter Maggie. Isabella and Maggie were living with Isabella's parents (James and Laura Mosley) in the 1880 census .

3. James Monroe Mosley, born February 17, 1851 in Ms or Al; died April 05, 1936. married Jessie Dora Murphy.
4. William Caleb Mosley, born December 1852 in Ms; died 1932 in Carroll County, Ms. married Clara Matlow of Tn.
5. John Mosley b. in Ms. abt 1854, (believed to have died young, but not proven.)
6. Henry T Mosley, born August 1859 in Ms; died 1936. He married (2) Lola Montez Booth December 19, 1896 in Monroe County, Ms; born December 22, 1867 in Lowndes, Ms; died March 26, 1930.

I know the descendents of James Monroe Mosley/Mozley, William Caleb Mosley, and Henry Mosley/Mozley.
I know very little about the daughters Elizabeth A. and Harriet Isabella or what became of them. Would love to hear from some descendents.
I am also trying to identify parents or siblings of James Madison Mosley. I know from census records that his father was born in SC and his mother was born in Ga.
Family Lore said that James Madison had married an Indian. I have since proven that this is not correct. He definately was married to Laura Florence Cain and she is not Indian. I now believe that the story actually goes back to the father of James Madison Mosley/Mozley. Early pictures do seem to support some native American heritage.
Thank you. Ann Mosley LeDoux

I have John Monroe Mosley with brothers Lewis, Edd & James....probably born in the late 1800's. I don't have their parents at all.

Wondering if the Monroe might connect them to someone in your line?

These names are all names found in my James Madison Mozley/ Mosley family. There was a brother of my Monroe named John that we were never able to find. He was born abt 1857. It is possible that this person is a descendant of his. We know that John lived to be a man, because we found him in the census as a farmhand with his brother, but never again. It is possible he could have married, I suppose. Because my Monroe named his first son "John", I always felt like his brother may of died as a young man. Give me some more information about this family. We have accounted for all other children of James Madison and their descendants. Where did your family live?

Unfortunately, I know so little about this line of my family.

Bessie Mae Mosley was my mother's grandmother. She died when my mom was just a year old. Her husband eventually remarried & I suppose they just didn't keep in contact with the Mosley's as much after that.

Pretty much the only information I have is what I've found here. I did receive one email about the Mosley's stating that our branch may have come from southern Illinois & settled in eastern Missouri, before moving further south to the Missouri bootheel. For some reason, I think I remember seeing somewhere that they may have been in KY before southern IL, but I can't find that info now.
