Mary Deveney born Ballenderry, Galway (spelling as per her death certificate) in 1864.

Migrated to Australia with brother John Deveney and mother Mary Deveney (died 1913 aged 92 years. Father - John Conwell and mother - Mary)

Mary married William Brooks and spent the rest of her life on their farm at Peak Crossing near Ipswich, Queensland.

Could your Brigit Deveney be a sister of Mary Brooks (nee Deveney) or Mary Deveney (nee Conwell)?

Warren,

Your maternal Great Grandmother was most likely from BALLINDEREEN which is a village just north of KINVARA. The primary cemetery in the area is DRUMACOO. I have a Great Grandmother who was a CUNNANE. Often translates to CANNON or CONCANNON. Many of these folks came from around ATHENRY in GALWAY. Google the "Tithe Applotment Book" for Galway and Griffith's Valuation. Lots of good info on families there.

Regards,
Kevin.
