There is an unusual 3 page death notice in the Weislingen register for 1837 (http://etat-civil.bas-rhin.fr/adeloch/index.php - Weislingen, D, 1837, 4 E 522/7 images 9 and 10) for a Nicolas Berron that died 5 years earlier in New York.

I was wondering if anyone could help with a translation. I'm having difficulty even making out some of the French.

Thanks,
Scott

It is really hard to read the writing and I certainly can't do a proper translation but the gist of it is that Nicolas was married to Christine Meyer. They went to New York and he died the day after they got off the ship (probably got sick during the journey). Christine was asking the French court/tribunal to formerly recognize his death so she could have full possession and control of his property and their children. This is the Tribunal's legal record of doing that. It obviously took five years to do. Hope that helps.
