CA Railroad Records...Occupation crossed out?

CA Railroad Records...Occupation crossed out?

Please see the attached. Should I key the typewritten "Engineer" or can anyone make out the penciled-in word? If the penciled-in correction can not be deciphered, should this be keyed as illegible?

To complicate matters further, this is associated with the first name on the page, and if like other pages, many of the names following on this page have the same occupation.

Thanks for any help

I realize you want an answer to the "if" part too. If indeed there is no hope that the replacement is legible, then the record will have to be illegible.

Remember that we can use wildcards, as defined in the standards.
