I am posting this for a friend:

I am a Brooks and Dutton descendent. Recently, two headstones were unearthed on the Corsi Christmas Tree Farm, which is where the Dutton family settled when they came to Brown County from Maine around 1815. They are for William F., son of G & S. Peters, died July 21, 1849, aged 10 mo, 18 days, and Nancy Jane, dau of G. & S. Peters, died May 5, 1851, aged 1 yr, 5 mos, 27 days. "G. & S." were George Peters, bc1824 OH d Feb 23, 1879 Brown Co., OH. He married 1847 to Sarah Penney b1831 OH d 1898 OH. Sarah is buried at the Old Brooks Cemetery as Sallie. Some sites list the parents of Sarah Penney as Lewis and Hannah Murphy Penney. They are only a couple names away from John Brooks on the 1850 Census. This is intriguing that they would be buried on Dutton land, so I'm trying to find out if there is a connection between the families other than that of friends. Anyone?

Sorry have no help for your friend's question, but your friend's mention of "the Old Brooks Cemetery" (presumably in Brown Co. OH) caught our eye, because my husband is a Brooks descendant of the Brooks family in Brwon Co OH. Does your friend have any more info on the Old Brooks Cemetery?

Thanks, Marva Jones Brooks

I haven't done research in this area for 20 or so years, but I have Mary Brooks, dau. of John Sr. & Elizabeth Hall Brooks, having married Solomon Dutton.

Sarah, another of John and Elizabeth's daughters, m. Joseph Rounds (my wife's line), then ended up in Linn Co., KS.

The Rounds also came to Clermont and Brown Countios from Maine, apparently with a large group.

I am a Brooks and Dutton descendent and mine traveled from New England to IA, but can't locate them along their path. Have burial sites in NY and IA. Also have Dodges, Curtises, Youngs, Hungerfords, in this line.
