Using a 67-marker DNA test on my nephew, I've figured out we are probably descended from Bartlet Bartholomew Brooks (1763-1851). Bartlet's dad was Thomas Brooks, who was born in Virginia in 1731 (some sources say June 1731, others say January, and still another says the birth year is 1740). He married a woman named Mary (possibly Hancock?). He died in 1799-1800, killed in action during the Revolutionary War. I do not have solid information on where he died. I have seen records (when Mary sought a pension approved by Virginia for Revolutionary War soldiers) indicating he served in Col. Abraham Buford's detachment. There are records for several Thomas Brookses, and I am trying hard to find information on where he died. Does anyone descend from Bartlet Brooks who has documentation of his father?

Yes, I do. His wife was Mary Hancock (although her last name may be doubtful.)

Their children were:
George Thomas Brooks (1753-1855)
Ann Brooks
David Brooks
Lucy Brooks
Bartlett Bartholomew Brooks (in my direct line 1763-1851)
