Capt. Jacob Ritchhart (1778-1836) commanded a troop from Ross Co. in the war of 1812.
Does anyone have information on these members of the group who served from July 28 - August 18, 1813?
Capt. Jacob Ritchhart
Corp. Thomas Noland
Henry Ritchhart
Oswell Thompson
Ignatius Thompson
Abraham Ritchhart
William Thompson
These were relatives of mine.

More data:
Jacob Ritchhart m (1) Roseanne (Rosey) Noulen (Nolin).
Thomas Noland/Nolin - There were a couple of Thomases in the area. I believe this Thomas to be brother-in-law to Jacob Ritchhart; the Thomas who m. Jane Kirkpatrick. Need proof. Thomas, who m. Jane, was in the war, but then so was another Thomas.
Henry Ritchhart was probably brother to Jacob.
Oswell, Ignatius and Wm. were probably all brothers and sons of Oswell/Oswald Thompson, Sr.
Abraham Ritchhart was either brother to or son of Jacob Ritchhart. Believe it to be brother as son would be too young.
As you can see, there is a lot of speculation here. I need proof.
Ignatius Thompson did marry Ann Unknown.

Larry,
Although I already do have that information, I want you to know that I appreciate your efforts of stepping forth and helping another researcher. How noble!
There are many genealogists out there like you and they are all gems. I, in turn, try to assist others.

I am still looking for additional inforamtion on the Ritchhart troop of fighters listed in my previous e-mail. Any descendants out there?

For 1812, the dates in the book are July 20 - Aug 24 only. I find a Nathan Thompson only listed. I've got to learn how to use this board. If I hadn't left your email in the "in" folder, I doubt if I could have gotten back to you. Do you have the Ross history book? I can scan the pages for your names and email the scans to you. Let me know by a regular email just in case I can't find you on this board.

By any chance does anyone know if there was a Caleb Ritchhart associated with the Ross County, OH Ritchharts? I am researching Caleb Ritchhart who married Rachel Doty in Williams county, OH in 1842. My research keeps taking me back to Ross County. I found two Caleb Ritchhart marriages in Ross County, one to Julian Lowery in 1828 and another to Susan Goosard in 1838. Caleb appears in the 1840 census in Williams Co, OH. In 1850, his wife/widow Rachel appears with three children Hiram, Julian & Elizabeth. Julian & Hiram may be named after other family members. I would love to hear from anyone that may have a connection.
