Hello,This is the information I have on the Basden's. Oswald Basden born Turks Islands, Occupation Tailor married Mary Clara Astwood 22 Oct 1891; Children: Helen, Agatha and Inez (maybe others, I don't know for sure).( I received this inofrmation from Charles Coverley(CICOVE@aol.com
); he is also related to the Basdens.)
I retrieved the following information from the 1920 US Census Records for Kings, County, Brooklyn, NY.
Thomas Wilson (head of household)born New York
Albertha (O'Ree) Wilson (Wife) born BWI
Harry R Wilson (Son)
Donald O Wilson (Son) (my husband's father)
Inez Basden (17 years old) born BWI(emigrated NY 4 May 1913) Father: Oswald Basden
Agatha Basden (16) born BWI (emigrated NY 6 Jul 1916)Father: Oswald Basden)
Elinore O'Ree (23 years old)(I believe her name was also Basden because on the immigration record it indicates her father as Oswald Basden) born BWI
Helen Basden (14 yrs old) arrived NY 27 Oct 1919 (father listed as Oswald Basden)
William Gardner (Bro in Law to head of household)
Address was 571 Gates Avenue, Brooklyn, NY
Immigration information was acquired from the Ellis Island Website. The Passenger Record for Helen Basden lists her arriving in NY on Oct 27 1919 from the Turks and Caicos Islands, Jamaica and the Caymen Islands BWI aboard "The Algonquin"; Person listed in County from whence she came is "Uncle - Mr. Norman Basden, Turks Island". Father is Mr. Oswald Basden. Norman and Oswald must have been either brother or related in some way. Do you have any information on this? Have you heard of any Gardiner's or Gardner's and O'Ree's from the Turks Islands? I know there is definitely a connection, but I have not been able to really pin anything down.
