I am desparately searching for some information on Margaret Towler, Thomas A. and MaryE. (Trammell)Towler daughter. She married James Hines and once lived in Washington County, Arkansas then moved to Indian Territory, Oklahoma near Tahlequah or Procter. I can find nothing on James Hines or Margaret Towler. They are my grgrgrandparents. They had a daughter Tessa Lee Hines who married a Robert Gibbons and I can't find on either one of them either. I know James and Margaret had also Tom, and Vance who married Alice Lisenbee and lived in Proctor, OK at the time of his death. As a matter of fact, most of the family is buried at Proctor. My grandmother was Izetta Margaret Gibbons and she married Charles Isaac Pense when she was 19 in Wagoner, OK. She was born Feb. 6, 1903 and died October 31, 1974. She had 2 children, and 3 stillborns. Aunt Nora Pauline Pense died when she was two and is buried along with the three stillborns at Molly Field Cemetary on No. 10 Highway near Scraper. Daddy, Marion Elmus Pense was born March 4, 1923 at Bunch, OK and died May 29, 1958 and is buried along with his mother in Floral Haven Cemetery near Broken Arrow, OK. If any of you have any sort of infomation on James Hines, Margaret Towler Hines, Tessa Lee Hines or Robert Gibbons, I'd love to hear from you. I am the end of the line along with my full brother Kevin Marion Eugune Pense and my children.I've posted to almost every board on the net! Please write to greatspirittl@yahoo.com

Dear Lei:
My name is Linda (Towler) Pearce. I am appart of this same family tree that you are researching. My grandfather was Jesse Towler, my great grandfather was James J Towler and my great greaat grandfather was Thomas A Towler. I have some information of these groups and others I do not. I too am interested in Thomas A Towler and Mary E Trammell. We have been trying to research Mary Trammell family especially her mother who was in the information that I have was Margaret Caldwell/ Cauldwell/Cardwell.

I am trying to trace the indian blood line which has been that this line is of Cherokee decent. If you have any information on this family would you please contact me at this e-mail address or call (580) 332-5887. I would be very grateful to you if you would.

Sincerely:
Linda (Towler) Pearce

Thank you Mike. Yes, I found this page some time ago, but I've done some additional research on the Cardwell side, and am able to track down to Ann Little Flower Basket Bassett which was married to a Cardwell.

I was wondering if you had any luck tracing the Indian part of this family. I have been told we have a small trace of Cherokee but no one seems to be able to say where.

Hello, I've been able to trace down to Little Flower Basket's mother, Mary Basket. Here is what I found:

Thomas Cardwell 1660-1717 born is Henrico, Va.
Married Mary Ann Little Flower Baskett in 1684.
She was born 1662 in Chickacorn District, Lancaster, VA.

Her mother, Mary Baskett was born in 1642 in Henricho, VA.
Little Floqwer's father was William Baskett, Powhatan Induian, born in 1640 in Virginia.

They are like my 11th Great gparents, and that makes me about 1/257ths Powhatan.

Hope this helps.

Hello, Great information that I am getting from a few different sites. If this information is correct then William B Baskett is my 8th Great Grandfather. Going back from William to Mary Ann (Baskett) Cardwell, to Thomas R Cardwell III, to Elizabeth Moss (Cardwell) Bandy, to George Bandy, to Drinkard Grant Bandy, to Francer "Frazier" Bandy, to George Thomas "Tom" Bandy, to Albert Richard Bandy, to Jacqueline (Bandy)Rigg to myself Debbie (Rigg) Sitington. I figures that I am then 1/1024th Powhattan. I am wondering how being your 11th ggrandfather would make you 1/257th Powhattan unless I am not doubling it out correctly. Very happy to see this information documented again somewhere. I hope to go there soon and see what evidence can be found locally or if the Powhatan's still have some Pow Wows or get togethers. Do you know anything about this. I am still searching my Indian on another Bandy / Gibson connection and it is very difficult. Thanks for letting me know what research you have done. You can email me at SCSitlington@att.net so we can see how we are related. Thanks, Debbie

Surnames: Gibson, Bandy
I am a descendant of Thomas Cardwell and Mary Ann. They are my 8th great grandparents. I was wondering about the Bandy/Gibson connection. I haven't done a whole lot of research with the Bandy side, so I don't know a whole lot about it. However, my wife's line is through the Gibson side. I don't believe it is the same Gibson family because I have that side of hers pretty cleared up. I find it interesting how family names seem to cross a lot. My wife and I have several families with the same last name in our ancestry, but they are not the same line. I am sure that if I went back far enough, I would find a common ancestor. Scary.
