Louise, Great to find you. I am 5th great grandson of Grizell Whitlock via her son William who went to Union Co., SC. We have an old Bible that was brought to Texas via Blount County, Alabama, by William's daughter (d. 1850 Blount Co., Ala, then her daughters. But it is not old enough to answer your questions. I have researched myself in Goochland courthouse. I have been in contact with others. It IS THOUGHT Grizzell was nee COLEMAN. Probably. I have received data from several sources that her husband was a James Whitlock. We will never prove it, I am afraid, because: There is a deed in Goochland about 1750 for Grizzell Whitlock of " " County (not New Kent, but an adjoining county equally "burned out." (I am doing this by memory.) I teach U. S. History (semi-retired at 54) at two East Texas community colleges. Has been a year of change, and my records are scattered somewhat currently. I am very interested in WHITLOCK, and your's is mine. Let us contact and share, especially when I get "settled." My mail address is now P. O. Box 483, Gilmer, Texas 75644. Wait! You are not Louise from Austin are you? If so this is highly redundant! If so, good to talk to you again. I have a new computer.
Trying to learn this stuff!!
I'm very pleased to connect with another
Whitlock researcher and cousin (no matter
how "distant"). Since my previous post,
I did find COLEMAN data which identified
Grizzell WHITLOCK as a COLEMAN, daughter of
Daniel and Unknown COLEMAN. According to
that data, Daniel was the son of Robert
COLEMAN and Elizabeth GRIZZELL. If that
research is well documented, it could be
just what we need.
Let me know when you get your Whitlock
research re-organized, and then we can share,
compare, and maybe find a few pieces to fill
gaps in the Whitlock jigsaw puzzle. I'm
going to be busy until after April 17th, but
anytime after that, I'll be ready to "talk".

Hi, I am descended from John Whitlock and Sarah Wilborn Whitlock. Some believe this John was the son of John Whitlock and Ann Logan of Goochland. John of Goochlands mother was Grizzel Coleman Whitlock. Do you have any information to show John (md to Sarah Wilborn) was the son of John and Ann Logan Whitlock? Please see http://www5.50megs.com/gwhitloc
for descendants of John and Sarah Whitlock.
I had a long message to you today, and lost it. I went back to see what I had written you previously. I will try again. Thank you for writing. I do know you are not Louise in Austin! I have some I can share re Whitlock.
More later. Thank you so much for writing.
David in NE TX
I will look forward to receiving more information on the Whitlock family when you have time to re-do it.
I'm confused. Were there two Grizzell's? I'm related about 7 or 8 generations down through Mitchel, David H., John Robert, Andrew Jackson, Andrew Fred, and Lawrence William Whitlock. Would like to share family info. Thanks! My e-mail address is: firstname.lastname@example.org

My GGGrandfather was from South Carolina, but his name is unknown. It is possibly Alexander. My GG was Ned W Whitlock who married Mary Watts and Sally Gibson. Please let me know if there are any connections.
