I'm not exactly a Canlas but the family name does sound very familiar.

I know a Canlas that resides here in New Zealand, although he is in his twenties, his name is Hezek Canlas. And he is originally from Pampanga.

My maternal Grandmother was Gloria Canlas. She was born in 1936 in Bataan which is just south of the Pampange area. I know her father's name was Eugenio Canlas but I don't have a birth year. I don't have Gloria's maiden name either. Perhaps your friend's grandmother is a sister to my grandmother?
