My great-great gandfather was William MAYNARD (ABT 1812) who married Sarah HICKS. William and Sarah had a son, William MAYNARD (born abt 1842 in Carroll County). He married Nancy Catherine ELLIS. I would appreciate any information you have on these surnames.

Hello fellow MAYNARD researchers. Searching for ANY information about J. W. MAYNARD, b. ?, (maybe 1835). He married Martha A. P. DILDAY from Carroll County. She was born in 1845. They were married in Obion Co., TN, March 29, 1873. I'm stuck. Any help appreciated. Thanks, Shelley

Do you know any of the ancestry of this Nancy Catherine ELLIS? My ggg grandmother Leafy (Liffy) ELLIS PEACOCK lived in Dist. 10 Carroll Co. in 1850 census (listed there as Lefa). Her parents were Absalom ELLIS and Phereba MERRITT of Wayne Co., NC. When Absalom died, Phereba and several of her children migrated to Henry Co., TN, along with daughter Leafy and her husband Wiley PEACOCK. I wonder if there is a connection with your Nancy ELLIS.

Thanks for replying to my message. I saw an inventory of estate for a William Maynard who left a wife, Sarah, and 4 children. I am convinced that Israel, who was indentured to Elisha Hardister to learn the trade of a tailor, is a brother to my William. I am interested in the other 2 brothers. I know nothing of them.
According to my grandfather, Connie Priestly Maynard, William's father was also a William who was married to Sarah Hicks. Do you have anything on these 2?

Thanks
Carol Maynard

According to my grandfather, Connie Priestly Maynard, his mother (Nancy Catherine Ellis) was the daughter of John Ellis and Martha Hicks. I cannot go any further back.
