Hello,

In the 1850 Brazos Co. census there were a whole herd of Walkers, One of my Great Grandmother's moved to the area abt 1851. Her maiden names was Sara Ann Walker, she married (1) Anthony Presley in Lincoln Co, Mo., after his death she married (2) Jesse Smith and they moved to Brazos Co., because of the large group of Walker's in the census I think this may have been Sara's parents or siblings.

Does any of this ring a bell ?

Jackson Wallace wed Mary Bradley, 2 Sep 1829 in Rutherford, TN. They were parents per census data. Jackson died 1870 of pneumonia in Brazos. I'm not related!

Go to Find A Grave site and search for memorial 74918047. Jackson Wallace only had 2 children, John and Allice, and both lines are well documented there. BTW Jackson and wife's burial location is unknown.

If you're using ancestry.com for research then here's a few "how to git 'er done"! Click "Search" in the header bar then look beneath the "Gift Memberships" logo. You'll see "Go to Old Search" or "Go to New Search". The option not displayed is the one you are currently using. I prefer the "old" variation 'cause it is more user-friendly and 'cause I'm old!(lol) Anyway, if the "old" option is viewed click on it to transform your parameters. From there, lookup Jackson Walace in 1850 Rutherford Tennessee. Not that one "l" omitted from this census. They're found 1850 Rutherford-Flemings-Image 9. Another respondent indicated the daughter's name was Alice. That does not agree with records. She was Mary Jane Wallace and she wed John Walker, 3 Dec 1854 in Brazos, TX. She collected his widow's pension as a result of service during the Civil War. Her brother John B. Wallace wed Alice Walker, 23 Jun 1852 in Walker, TX. Haven't researched to see if siblings (Wallace) wed siblings (Walker). Believe you descend from John B.? Which child? You'll find Jackson Wallace in 1860 TX-Brazos-Precinct 3-Image 6 and 1840 TN-Rutherford-Not Stated-Image 73. There's a "whole bunch" of Wallace(s) in 1840 Tennessee-Rutherford County. Logon findagrave.com and lookup Alice Walker Wallace in Brazos County.

You're correct. I had a momentary brain lapse. John and Mary Jane, not Allice, were children of Jackson and Mary Wallace who married Walker siblings: John married Allice Walker and Mary Jane married John Walker, his 2nd marriage.

John Wallace died by a self inflicted gun shot. Accident or suicide unknown. There were issues with eldest child that some have suggested led him to do the deed.

BTW John and Mary were married in Robertson Co. TX. Not sure if you were saying a city "Walker" or the county "Walker". You're date is good.

Robertson County was the site of their marriage. Mistake on my part.
