I have marriage record for Mary C. DODSON & James P. LONG dated October 1875, Hamblen Co., Tennessee. Mary C. is probably the Mary C. DODSON named in her grandmother's will--Mary W. RIGGS--will written 1873.

Mary C. is living with this grandmother in 1870 census Hawkins/Hamblen Co., Tenn. The daughter of Mary W. RIGGS named in will is Eliza Jane DODSON. 1860 census Hawkins Co, Tennessee shows Mary C. 6 years old residing with parents John W. DODSON & Eliza J. DODSON.

Could this be the LONG/DODSON families you are seeking?

I don't think so. My Dodson family came from Pennsylvania area, and to my knowledge never went farther than Illinois south, but west.
