Hi -
I'm looking at an death certificate from 1935. For the residence it says "R. F. D. #4 Durham". Might be a stupid question but what does RFD stand for? I can't find it anywhere?

RFD stands for rural free delivery and the route number would be #4. I think later on they dropped the RFD and just used route number with a box number, i.e. Route 4, Box 367 is an example. I know Route 4, Durham used to include Leesville Road area.
